Senior Legal Counsel
Responsibilities
• Advise and collaborate with the management members and business stakeholders on the group’s corporate and business initiatives;
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and communicating the same with the stakeholders to devise pragmatic solutions;
• Provide active and competent support to the group’s businesses, with a focus on asset management, securities sales and trading, and corporate finance (including equity capital market and debt capital market projects);
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to protect the group’s interests;
• Manage claims and disputes involving the group;
• Deliver legal and regulatory updates to the management and stakeholders;
• Formulate and update internal legal and compliance policies and guidelines; liaison with various stakeholders to ensure effective compliance;
• Manage external counsel to ensure its quality of services;
• Provide staff training on legal matters, and to lead and manage ad hoc legal projects from time to time.
Requirements
• Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB), completed PCLL and admitted as a Hong Kong solicitor with 10+ years of PQE;
• In-house experience gained from reputable financial institutions and international law firms preferred. Working experience relating to Chinese financial institution is an advantage;
• Solid experience in corporate and commercial transactions, as well as SFC-regulated activities;
• Excellent research and analytical skills; strong leadership, communication, management and interpersonal skills; ability to reach sound judgments, having balanced commercial needs and practicalities;
• Able to set priorities and manage numerous projects;
• Detail-oriented; able to work independently and under pressure;
• Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese. Mandarin-speaking is a must.
